Narcometalizadas are a series of artifacts left behind by earlier and current narcotics traffickers, traces of a violent world. To me they leave an acrid taste in the mouth, a sensation akin to biting rusty metal. The images are taken with, and printed on, silver gelatin materials, so metal is included in the very nature of the image. The series is mounted on aluminum to increase the presence and sensation of metal in the work.
The series Narcometalizadas forms part of the book and travelling exhibition Una Línea de Polvo [A Line of Dust] (2017), curated by Santiago Rueda, and first exhibited at the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo (Bogota).
